Dolpo lies in the Shey-Phoksundo National Park. It is one of the remote districts of north-west Nepal. There, one can see Monasteries straggle up a pitch of long, tortuous roads, brown and barren mountains, Caravan of Yaks, creed of the Shaman, holy peaks which has romantic local legend and Lake Phoksundo (also known as Ringmo). The lifestyle and culture of the local people remind one of Tibet. It has long poignant life and its hardship in Dolpo people who lead caravans of Yaks for trans-Himalayan (mountain) to Tibet to bring Salt and exchange it for other goods. There are forests of Pine, spruce, cypress, poplar, deodar, fir and birch etc. It is a prime habitat for the snow leopard, blue sheep, wild goat leopard, wolf, jackal, black bear and equally rich in many kinds of birds.
